Dunkirk and the “Shepard Tone“

Nice piece by Vox – in a true Nerdwriter1 style by the way – on the sound design of Dunkirk – and by extension all of Christoper Nolan’s films – which makes the movie so intense.

Just like with visual illusions, the brain can also be tricked with sound illusions.

Sidenote: Ever since I saw its trailer in full IMAX glory I’ve been really excited about this one. This Saturday I’ll be watching an IMAX screening of it in Brussels 🙂

Really looking forward to this one:

Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.

Back in December I was in Brussels to see an IMAX showing of Rogue One. One of the trailers preceding the main feature was a 7-minute trailer for Dunkirk. It left me deeply impressed, and ever since remains one of the things I always bring up when people ask me about Rogue One.

So yes, I’ll most definitely be seeing this one in an IMAX Theatre upon its theatrical release (21 July 2017) 🙂
