Several years ago, as a junior designer in a small company, I was dying to take on a project of my own. Finally, my boss gave me a shot and I was determined to make something amazing happen… After many long hours and several scrapped ideas I was done—my first masterpiece.
The client loved it. Her friends loved it. Her family loved it. I had captured her personality and put it online.
Six months later I ran into her and eventually asked her how the site has impacted her business… I believe the answer was, “Ehh, same-old, same-old.”
Ouch!
That’s when I realized I succeeded as an artist, but failed as a designer.
